In the first quarter of 2026, $20.4 billion was purchased from mobile game applications

According to the latest quarterly Digital Market Index report of Sensor Tower, in the first quarter of 2026, the use of the App Store and Google Play mobile game applications grew 0.5 per cent over the same period, to $20.6 billion.

Total global iOS application income increased by 6.9 per cent to $29.3 billion over the same period, largely as a result of growth in non-player applications. Appleside game income declined from 0.6 per cent to $12.96 billion per year. Google applied an increase of 14 to 14.2 billion United States dollars over the same period, while Andromeda received an increase of 2.2 to $7.39 billion over the same period.

Mobile game downloads declined by 11.9 to 11.16 billion over the same period, the lowest number recorded in the first quarter since the outbreak in 2019. App Store game downloads dropped from 3.5 to 1.91 billion per year and Google Play downloads from 13 to 9.95 billion per year.

In the first quarter, the strategic game led to $4.89 billion in applied internal purchase income. Although there was a 3 per cent increase over the same period, this was the worst-performing quarter of the past year. For the first time in the quarter, the income from puzzle-like games increased by 21 per cent over the same year, surpassing the $4 billion mark. This was followed by role-playing games ($3.16 billion, a decrease of 10 per cent over the same period), casino games ($2.55 billion, a decrease of 8 per cent over the same period) and shooting games ($1.51 billion, an increase of 12.1 per cent over the same period).

In terms of downloads, the top 10 types of game show a similar decline, with six of them showing double-digit decreases. The highest number of downloads of puzzle games was 2.5 billion (a decrease of 4 per cent per year), followed by simulations, with 2.37 billion downloads (13 per cent per year), 2.32 billion street games (16 per cent per year), 815 million lifestyle games (19 per cent per year) and 617 million desktop games (14 per cent per year).

Last War:Survival is the sixth consecutive season of the Internal Purchases List, and Kings Glory is the only game in the first quarter with two revenues exceeding $500 million. The top five are: Whiteout Survival, Royal Match and Monopoly Go.

The Russian block puzzle game ” Block Blast ” was the top of the global download list, leading Garena Free Fire and Roblox. Tile Explorer and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang are the top 10 games in the first quarter, ranking eighth and tenth, respectively.
