The China Games Industry Monthly Report of August 2025, published by the CDA Games Commission, shows that real sales revenues from the Chinese games market in August fell significantly in comparison to last year. Recalling that market revenues in the first half of the year had reached $16.8 billion, a bright sign of 14.08 per cent growth over the same year, the August “small turnback” or presages the need for more innovation to rekindle the momentum in the second half of the year. Total August income was $29,263 million, a slight increase of 0.61 per cent over the July figure of $29.1 billion, indicating inertia at the end of the summer season. However, from the same perspective, last August was driven by the initial effects of the Black Myth: The Goku, which generated an income of $33.640 billion, with a decline of 13.01 per cent over the same period of the year, lowering expectations throughout the year.

While the breakdown of the end market is not exhaustively disclosed, the overall trend is that mobile games contribute most of the increase as a major force (over 70 per cent), while the client and host games are flat because of a lack of heavy new work. User sizes remained stable at around 679 million people, but per capita consumption (ARPU) declined by about 8 per cent in comparison with the same period, reflecting a warm cooling of “buy-buys-to-buy”. China recorded $1.680 billion in overseas revenues from autonomous R & D games, a decrease of 10.66 per cent over the same period, mainly affected by global economic uncertainty and increased local competition. The fall in August reminded enterprises of the need to accelerate multilingualism and regional marketing, as compared to the strong increase of 19.29 per cent in overseas revenues over the previous six months.

The Black Myth: The Goku, a national production 3A pole, lost tens of millions of dollars in its first month, and its revenues skyrocketed to $33.6 billion, driving the whole industry “to the top”, resulting in a high base last year. There was a continuation of discussions in August of this year, but no new “sticks” at the same level led to a “genocidal vacuum”. In August, mobile games generated about 75 per cent of the revenue, an increase of 1.2 per cent in the ring, and benefited from updates of the permanent tree, such as ” Glory of the King ” and ” God of the Oracle ” . However, the new tour was weak, with only three entries in the month Top10. The PC/host end was more intense (about 18 per cent) than the decline in the same period. Despite the fall of $1.680 billion in revenues from the sea, markets in South-East Asia and the Middle East had already reached 12 per cent, with a second dimension of IP, such as the Bong.
